Abstract

The rubbish, without being pre-sorted, is broken down, homogenised and possibly classified. The humidity in the obtd. pulp is adjusted to 45-55 wt.%. The pulp, with its humidity content maintained, is then subjected to an aerobic fermentation involving movement in a material to produce a dynamic process, and this over a period of at least 24 hours. Subsequently, the pulp is subjected to an associated aerobic fermentation in a material which is mainly stationary, or at least only movable for transport purposes. In this stage, ventilating gas is introduced through the pulp layer, with similar maintenance of the humidity content, and for a period of approx. 4 to 5 days.
