Abstract

Dryer, esp. for bricks, comprises at least two separate indirectly heated drying chambers separated by thermal insulation from each other and from the outside. It includes two heat exchanger devices the first communicating with the first drying chamber at a higher temp. This is supplied with hot moist unsatd. air from the drying chamber and acts to reduce the temp. of the hot moist air to a level at which it becomes saturated with water vapour. The second heat exchanger is situated inside the second drying chamber and in series with the first drying chamber and is fed with the hot satd. air leaving the chamber. Heat exchanger is provided with a mechanism for removing the water. condensing inside it and passing it back to the first drying chamber, returning it to the satd. air fed in there. The heat contained in the water is passed back to the first drying chamber, so that lower energy consumption is required. The temp. and the humidity in each drying chamber can vary within wide limits.
