Abstract

Circular saw machine for boards, stacks of boards, etc. comprises a saw unit which reciprocates relative to the fixed workpiece (P1) and perpendicularly to the workpiece plane. The saw unit comprises a main blade (S) and opt. a pre-nicking blade. Near the saw input and/or output edge of the workpiece is an edge pre-nicking saw (H) in line with the main blade. This saw moves relative to the workpiece to make an incision (Z1) in the plane of the cutting gap (T) in the edge of the workpiece and to move back into an inoperative position which does not obstruct workpiece movement and/or the main blade during subsequent cutting. The machine prevents or reduces splitting of very delicate board surfaces.
