Abstract
A system for the purification of water by means of oxygenation consists in drawing from the main bulk to be processed, a quantity of water which is first pressurised and then injected with an oxygen enriched gas which may contain ozone and some chlorine; the water with the dissolved and undissolved gas being reintroduced into the mass from which it was taken, in a manner ensuring considerable turbulence, so that the gas in the form of bubbles is either dissolved or utilised. Measures are taken to prevent damage by the pumps to organisms in the water, and the process may be intermittent to permit the sedimentation and removal of activated sludge from the system.
