Abstract

An auxiliary for use during or after dyeing or printing comprises at least one propylene oxide reaction product obtained by reacting an addition production of (a) an at least 3-hydric, aliphatic alcohol of 3 to 10 carbon atoms and (b) 1,2-propylene oxide, with (c) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having 8 to 12 carbon atoms, or its anhydride, and with at least one of the following components: (d) an aliphatic diol having a molecular weight of not more than 2000 or a monoester thereof with component (f), (e) a fatty alcohol of 12 to 22 carbon atoms, and (f) a fatty acid of 12 to 22 carbon atoms in the presence of an acid catalyst at temperatures from 60 to 120 DEG C. The auxiliaries can be used for reducing a) the staining when unfixed dye is washed off after printing, b) the formation of crease marks when continuous textile sheet materials are dyed, and c) the deposition of oligomers on the textile material when polyester fibres are dyed by the HT method.
