X is a phenylene, diphenylene, diphenylsulphone, or 2,2-phenylenepropane residue and R is phenyl cresyl, xylyl or t-butyl. The polyester is a condensation prod. of one or more dicarboxylic acids or their lower alkyl esters with one or more glycols. The compsns. can be used for prodn. of oriented films or foils having flame-inhibiting props.
