Abstract
The present technique relates to an image processing device and method and a program that make it possible to obtain a high quality panorama image when generating a 360 degree panorama image. A projection image generation unit generates projection images in such a way that images captured while rotating a camera 360 degrees are mapped on a cylindrical surface. A cumulative difference value calculation unit calculates the cumulative difference value between adjacent projection images at each position. A directed graph generation unit generates based on the projection images and the cumulative difference value a directed graph in which the cumulative difference value is reflected on the energy of an edge. According to the directed graph a route search unit searches for the connection positions of projection images having the least breaks when connecting the projection images to each other to generate a panorama image. Based on the search result a panorama image generation unit connects the projection images and generates the panorama image. The present technique is applicable to image processing devices.
