Abstract
An induction plasma furnace comprises an inductor (1) housing a melting pot (2) the side wall of which consists of two vertically oriented sections (3) made of an electrically conductive material and electrically insulated from each other. At least one of the sections (3) of the pot (2) is connected in series with the electrical circuit of an electric arc plasmatron (7), said circuit being closed through the melt (4), so that the current direction of the arc (10) of the plasmatron (7) is the same or opposite to the current direction in the section (3) of the pot (2).
