Description

TOILET BOWL ACCESSORY TOILET BOWL ACCESSORY The present invention relates to a toilet bowl accessory, and particularly to an accessory to be attached to a toilet bowl for use by male users of different heights.
Toilet bowls are conventionally mounted at a predetermined height for convenient use by both male and female users for most cases. However, the fixed height of the toilet bowl is not so convenient for use by male users when urinating, and as a result the floor around the toilet bowl becomes wet. This is not only non- hygienic, but also requires frequent cleaning.
An object of the present invention is to provide an accessory to be attached to a toilet bowl which can be used to avoid the above wetting of the floor around the toilet bowl.
According to the present invention, there is provided an accessory to be attached to a toilet bowl including a flushing water pipe for supplying water to flush the toilet bowl, the accessory comprising: a receptacle to be used by male users of the toilet bowl, and having an inlet and an outlet; a mounting for mounting the receptacle enabling it to be supported at different heights above the floor to accommodate the height of the male user; an inlet conduit connecting the inlet of the receptacle to an upper end of the flushing water pipe; and an outlet conduit connecting the outlet of the receptacle to the toilet bowl.
According to further features in the preferred embodiment of the invention described below, the outlet conduit is connected to a lower end of the flushing water pipe. In addition, the receptacle includes a handle grippable by the user for supporting the container at the appropriate height for the respective user. Further, the mounting means comprises a wall-mountable plate and an extensible connection therefrom to the receptacle. The wall-mountable plate further includes a holder for releasably holding the receptacle at a higher elevation than the connection of the inlet conduit to the flushable water pipe.
An accessory constructed in accordance with the foregoing features may be conveniently attached to existing flushing systems for toilet bowls. When the accessory is not to be used, it may be held by the wall-mounted plate at an elevation above the connection to the water flushing pipe, and will therefore not interfere with the normal flushing of the toilet bowl. When it is to be used, however, it may be conveniently held at the appropriate by the user, whereupon the normal flushing of the toilet bowl will also divert some of the water to the receptacle and will thereby flush it clean.
Further features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the description below.
The invention is herein described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 is a front view illustrating one form of accessory constructed in accordance with the present invention and attached to an existing toilet bowl flushing system; Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the accessory and flushing system of Fig. 1 ; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view more particularly illustrating the construction of the receptacle in the accessory of Figs . 1 and 2.
Figs. 1 and 2 illustrate an accessory, generally designated 2, constructed in accordance with the present invention and applied to an existing toilet bowl flushing system, including a toilet bowl 3, a tank 4 for the flushing water, a flushing water pipe 5 leading from tank 4 to the toilet bowl 3, a handle 6 for flushing the bowl 3, and a water supply pipe 7 controlled by a manual valve 8 for refilling the tank 4 with the flushing water. Since such flushing systems for toilet bowls are well known, further details of its construction and operation are not set forth herein. 96484/2 The accessory 2 to be applied to existing toilet bowl flushing systems comprises a receptacle 10, an inlet conduit 11 connecting the inlet of the receptacle to the upper end of the flushing water pipe 5, an outlet conduit 12 connecting the outlet of the receptacle to the lower end of the flushing water pipe 5 a mounting plate 13 adapted to be mounted to the wall, and an extensible connection 14 connecting the receptacle 10 to the mounting plate.
More particularly, the receptable 10 includes a handle 21, 22, Fig. 3, at each of Its opposite sides for convenient gripping by the user to permit the receptacle to be held at the appropriate height according to the height of the user. Receptacle 10 further includes an opening 23 to receive the urination by the user, an inlet 24 at its upper end connected to the inlet conduit 11, and an outlet 25 at its lower end connected to the outlet conduit 12. Receptacle 10 further includes an apertured baffle plate 26 located between the inlet 24 and opening 23, for deflecting the inletted water to rinse the receptacle before being outletted via the outlet conduit 12 to the toilet bowl 3.
The wall-mountable plate 13 includes a pair of bracket arms 31, 32, on its opposite sides for releasably holding the receptable 10 when the receptacle is not in use. Bracket arms 31, 32 are spaced apart to receive the two handles 21 , 22 of the receptacle .
Extensible connection 14 may merely be a coiled wire permitting the receptacle to be moved as desired by the user. Instead of a coiled wire, this connection could be in the form of a cord self-reelable within a reel carried by mounting plate 13.
The inlet and outlet conduits 11, 12, are flexible tubes, e.g., corrugated tubes, permitting the receptacle to be manually supported at the appropriate height by the user, or to be mounted to plate 13.
The manner of using the accessory illustrated in the drawings will be apparent from the above description. Thus, the receptacle may be easily attached to existing toilet bowl flushing systems by merely mounting the plate 13 to the wall at a location to hold the receptacle 10 above the connection of its inlet conduit 11 to the water flushing pipe 5; thus, when the receptacle is not in use, the accessory will not interfere with the normal flushing of the toilet bowl. When the accessory is to be used, the receptacle 10 is grasped by the user and held at the appropriate height; and after use, the toilet is flushed by operating the handle 6 while the receptacle 10 is still held at the height of use, so that a part of the flushing water passing through the flushing pipe 5 will also pass via the inlet conduit 11 to the receptacle 10, and thereby will rinse the receptacle via the outlet conduit 12 into the toilet bowl.
While the invention has been described with respect to one preferred embodiment, it will be appreciated that many variations, modifications and other applications of the invention may be made.
