Abstract
A reconnaissance device (10) comprising: a housing (45) defining a window (50); means (28) for rotatably mounting the housing onto an airborne platform; a camera (64) disposed within the housing; a mirror (52) arranged with respect to the camera and driven in incremental rotational motion about a first axis; and means for rotating the housing about a second axis parallel to the first axis during rotation of the mirror about the first axis, the rotation of the housing being in rotational direction opposite to the rotation of the mirror during camera operation, wherein the reconnaissance device is operative to scan a target by the incremental rotational motion of the mirror and the rotation of the housing.
