Abstract
1. A process for the preparation of 4-(hydroxyme-thylphosphinyl)-2-aminobutyric acid of the formula see diagramm : EP0121226,P5,F1 and its salts, which comprises reacting 4-(hydroxynethyl-phosphinyl)-2-oxobutyric acid of the formula see diagramm : EP0121226,P6,F2 or its salts, in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at -10 to +150 degrees C in a hydrogen atmosphere, with ammonia or with a primary amine the C-N bond of which being capable of hydrogenolytic cleavage by means of said hydrogenation catalyst.
