PLASTIC CONTAINER WITH SEALABLE LID The invention concerns a plastic container, of rectangular cross-section with sealable plastic lid, which dips into the container opening with an inner rim projecting beyond the lid bottom, and which overlaps the end region of the container with its outer rim, whereby a seal held between the inner and outer rim lies against the edge of the container opening, and the lid is held in locking position by means of holding members which are connected to its outer rim and which engages i locking means provided on the outside of the container walls.

Up to now it was necessary for the purpose of assuring the locking position of a comparative elastic lid during rough handling, to distribute a plurality of holding members over the circumference of the lid which members for locking purposes had to be inserted individually one after the other by hand into the corresponding locking means on the container wall and had to be safeguarded, e.g. by means of a lead wire seal, for the purposes of guaranteeing the quality of the contents. In spite of the cumbersome lockin processes the bending of the lid rim between the holdin members and thereby a removal of said lid from its seal cannot be prevented when undergoing pressures through impact loads; because of the distance between the individual holding members., particularly in the linearly extending regions of the lid rim. it has proven too costly to mount a separate tightening strap In order to overcome this disadvantage* It is the object of the invention to provide a ' r /i time-saving locking. nd safeguarding process, by simple means, while simultaneously assurin a satisfactory locking position of the lid.

This object is achieved according to the invention, in that lid 2 mounted on the container 1 lies with its angularly outwardly extendin outer rim end 4 against a wall ledge 3 provided at a distance below the container opening, wherein by means of knovm film hinges 6 at the linearly exteading edges of the outer rim ends dlmensionally stable locking flaps 5 are connected, which in their swung-in position lie with their profiled ledges 7 connected to the film hinges 6 against the bottom of the wall ledges 3, wherein at least one sawtooth-shaped projection 8 provided at the edge of the oppositely extending profiled ledges 9 of the locking flaps 5 engage in a corresponding cut-out 11 of a second wall ledge 10 provided at a distance below wall ledge 3· .·· Owing to the dlmensionally stable locking flaps hich extend almost for the entire length of the ! linearly extending regions of the lid rim, these , exposed lid parts are safeguarded against removal from the . seal. The comparatively short, free corner regions are stiff enough to stand up under pressure, as has been proven by shock tests. The locking process is substantially shortened by simply operating the hinges. The same holds true for opening the lid.

In order to make known an unauthorized removal of the contents of the container it is suggested according to the invention to rovide bores 12 in the central region of at least two locking flaps 5,.^through each of which extend, when the lockin flaps are swung inwards two catch pins 13» which lie opposite each other and project from the outer wall of the container, and behind whose sawtooth shaped pin end engages the rear annular surface of the mushroom shaped shaft end 14 of a sealing rivet 15 which is driven from the outside through the flapbores 12 between the catch pins 13 , wherein the bottom surface of the rivethead 16 which ' I}' can be cut off lies against the outer wall of the corresponding locking flap 5· In order to permit the swinging of the locking flaps in the unlocked position, the noticeably painted rivet heads must be cut off. The change which is created thereby will be easily seen.

An embodiment of the invention is shown b way of example in the drawing.

At a distance below the opening of the rectangular container 1, ledges 3 and 10 project from its wall, which ledges are formed by means of connecting ribs into a kind of container carrying means and hereby reinforce the container opening (Fig. 3). The plastic lid 2 has an Inner rim 17 which projects from the lid bottom and which is connected with the rim of the lid cavity, by means of reinforcement ribs 20. The outer rim 18 whose end 4 extends outwardly at a right angle, runs parallel to the inner rim 17 of the lid.

In the region of the linearly extending ends of the outer rim 4 dimensionally stable locking flaps 5 are connected by means of film hinges 6 and permit In the outwardly swung condition, mounting and removal of the lid 2. At two positions of each profiled ledge 9 of the locking flaps 5 which ledge lies opposite to the ]jedge 7» sawtooth-shaped projections 8 are provided.

The sealing rivet 15, whose mushroom-shaped shaft end 14 engages behind the projections of the catch pin 13 with its rear annular surface is driven from the outside through the flap bores 12 between the catch pins 13* The bottom surface of the head of the rivet 16 lies thus, tightly against the outer wall of the respective sealing flap 5» In order to release the flap sealJ the rivet heads 16 are cut off, so that the sealing flaps 5 can be swung outwards into opening positioni;

Plaetic container of rectangular cross-section with sealable plastic lid, which dips into the container opening with an inner rim projecting beyind the lid bottom, and which overlaps the end region of the container with its outer rim, whereby a seal held between the inner and outer rim lies against the edge of the container opening, and the lid is held in locking position by means of holding members which are connected to its outer rim and which engage in locking means provided on the outside of the container walls, characterized in that the lid (2) which is mounted o . the container (1) lies with its angularly outwardly extending outer rim end (4) against a wall ledge (3) . provided at a distance below the container opening, wherein by means of known film hinges (6) at the linearly extending edges of the outer rim ends dimenslbnally stable locking flaps (5) are connected, which in their swung^in position lie with their profiled ledges (7) connected to the film hinges (6) against the bottom of the wall ledges (3), wherein at least one sawtooth-shaped projection (8) provided at the edge of the oppositely extending profiled ledges (9) of the locking flaps (5) engage in a corresponding cut-out (11) of a second wall ledge (10) provided at a. distance belo wall ledge (3).

Plastic container with sealable lid as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that bores (12) are provided in the central region of at leaet two locking flaps (5) through each of which extend, when the locking flaps are swung inwards, two catch pins (13), which lie opposite each other and project from the outer wall of the container, and behind whose sawtooth-shaped pin end engagee the rear annular surface of the mushroom-shaped ■ shaft end (14) of a sealing rivet (15) which is driven from the outside through the flap bores (12) between the catch pins (13)» wherein the bottom surface of the rivet head (l6) which can be cut off lies against the : outer wall of the corresponding locking flap (5). .. .. . .
