Description

IMgB0V∑MEWT8 IN SAFETY BAZOR The present invention relates to safety razors.
Those who use safety razors usually employ for lathering the face brushless foam or ahaving cream and then start £ shaving with the razor. According to manufactured direction, the cream is first put onto the hand of the user and is then applied to the face. Only then the hairy portions are ready for being shaved. The invention provides means by the use of which the preliminary lathering or creaming of the face becomes superfluous, thus reducing the time of shaving by more than half. Further, the quantity of shaving foam or cream ij also reduced to a minimum, approximately to a tenth of the quantity which is used hitherto.
Finally, it is no more necessary to let the hand become soapy and dripping wet.
In the improved razor there is provided a safety razor of conventional type, i.e. comprising handle, a holder for a blade or blade unit and a cap or cover plate.
According to the invention to the safety razor either to the holder or to a guard member on which the blade is supported there is attached a skirt like plate which is slightly curved^- offering a concavity to the outside, away from the handle of the safety razor such concavity being , adapted to hold shaving cream - the said plate being positioned in use of the razor below the guard which - as is known - is designed to contact the skin.
The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings : ;In the drawings Figs. 1 and 2 show a commonly used type of injector safety razor, Fig. 1 being a lateral - ele- vational view while Fig. 2 is a frontal view. Figs. 3 and 4 show - in like positions - a different type of safety razor. 47S96/2 a conventional type of safety razor of the so called "Gillette (Registered TM) type.
In the following description of the drawings identical or equivalent parts of the different types have been indicated by the same numerals. Turning first to Figs. 1 and 2 the safety razor comprises a handle 1 from which extends upwardly a holder portion 2 in which18 conventional way is clampingly held a blade 3 supported by a guard 30. This arrangement is well known and needs no further elucidation. To the guard member 30 is fixedly attached a plate 4 which extends the whole width of the guard.
A similar arrangement is shown in Figs. 3 and 4. Here the handle is also marked with the numeral 1 and the holder by the numeral 2, in the holder can be inserted a blade unit 5 in which is held a blade 3. To the razor, beneath the position of the unit 4 and the guard is attached a skirt like plate 4, The razor shown in Figs. 5 and 6 comprises the usual handle 1 to which is attached a bottom guard 6. As usual a cap or top plate 7 is attached by srew means to the handle while the blade 3 (in this case double edged blade) is held between the guard plate 6 and top plate 7. To guard plate 6, at both opposite edges thereof, are attached the skirt like plate 4 and 4a. Ii all cases, as can be gathered the drawings the lowermost edge of the skirt is slightly bent outwardly as indicated by the arrows in the figures, creating a slight concavity facing outwardly. This concavity can act like a scoop and hold a small quantity of shaving against deposited thereon.
In use a quantity of shaving cream is uniformly sppead on the skirt 4 as indicated in the drawing (Fig. 6) by the since it need only be squeezed from the collapsible tube or from a pressurized container in which it is sold, slowly moving the nipple of the tube or container along the skirt 4, With the razor so prepared a person can shave without any other preliminary operations or preparations of the face. In fact the shaving preparation now on the plate 4 is passed from the deposit on the plate to the face and immediately after thus spreading a small quantity on the face the blade passes over the hair and completes the shaving.
Shaved hair and cream is disposed through the slot in the guard member, as usual.
Experience has shown that the shaving by means of the new device can be performed much quicker than by conventional safety razors and the expenditure of shaving preparation is considerably smaller - about a sub-multiple of ten - of the quantity usually expended.
