Claims (17)
1. Ο,Ο-Dimethyl 2-diethylaminopyrimidin-4-yl phosphorothionate.
2. Process for the preparation of 0,0-dimethyl 2-diethylaminopyrimidin-4-yl phosphorothionate which . comprises treating 2-diethylamino-4-hydroxypyrimidine , or an alkali metal salt thereof ,- with dimethylphosphoro-chloridothionate .
3. · Process as claimed in claim 2 carried out in a diluent or solvent.
4. Process as claimed in claim 3 wherein the diluent or solvent is a ketone.
5. Process as claimed in claim 4 wherein the ketone is acetone or methylisobutyl ketone
6. Process as claimed in any of claims 2 to 5 carried out in the presence of a base.
7. Process as claimed in claim 6 wherein the base is an alkali metal carbonate.
8. Process as claimed in claim 7 wherein the alkali metal carbonate is potassium carbonate.
9. Pesticidal compositions comprising as an active ingredient 0,0-dimethyl 2-diethylamihopyrimidin-4-yl phosphorothionate in association with a diluent or carrier material.
10. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in claim 9 comprising one or more wetting, dispersing, or emulsifying agents.
11. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in either of claims 9 and 10 wherein the diluent or carrier is a liquid diluent.
12. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in either of claims 9 and 10 wherein the diluent or carrier is a solid' diluent or carrier.
13. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in claim 12 wherein the carrier is. a porous granular material.
14. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in any of claims 9 to 13 comprising from 10-85% by weight of the active ingredient.
15. Pesticidal compositions as claimed in any of claims 9 to 13 comprising from 0.0001% to 1.0% by weigh of the active ingredient. -1U- 44847/2
16. A method of combating pests which comprises applying to the pests themselves, o to the locus of the pests, or to the habitat of the pests, or to growing plants liable to infestation by the pests, a pesticidal composition as claimed in any of claims 9 to 15.
17. 0,0-Dimethyl 0-2-diethylaminopyrimidin-4-yl phosphoro-tbionate as claimed in claim 1·, processes for its preparation, and pesticidal compositions comprising it, substantially as hereinbefore described with particular reference to Examples 1 to 4 and 6. AGENTS FOR APPLICANTS
