Claims (3)

1. What is^claimed is:

Process for the manufacture of a fine-grained, rubber- elastic chloropolyethylene by chlorinating pulverulent polyethylene having a particle size of from 0.1 to 300 microns in aqueous phase at a temperature which is at least partially above the beginning crystallite melting point according to differential thermoanalysis, in the presence of silicic acid as additive, which comprises adding to the chlorination mixture, prior toy during, or after chlorination, ©.01 to 1.0 % by weight, calculated on the starting polyethylene, of a polysiloxane of the formula in which and R2 each stands for an alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl radical and x is an integer in the range of from 10 to 10,000, and chlorinating, continuing to chlorinate, or processing the poljoner in known manner. 2v The process of claim , wherein the polyethylene is obtained by low pressure, medium pressure or high pressure synthesis and has a molecular weight in the range of from about 10,000 to 2,000,000.
3. The process of claim 1, wherein the chlorination is carried out in hydrochloric acid of 10 to 30 % strength,. The process of claim 1, '..'herein the chlorinatio is carried out in the presence of polyvinyl chloride or the polyvinyl chloride is added to the polymer suspension after chlorination.
