Claims (2)
1. Claims 1. A strip of stiff 2?l stics material comprising a series of sequential lamellar units e.g. constituting closures for the necks of bags and similar packages, adjacent lamellar units being separated by transverse cuts in the plastics material and being interconnected by one or more projections extending between the units, characterised in that each projection extends, from a first end adj acerb to a said cut at which end the projection is integral with a .said unit, into the area of the next adjacent device.

A strip as claimed in claim 1 characterised in that the projections are formed by generally longitudinal cuts in the material of .the stri p, all the said cuts being made without removal of the said material. 3- A strip as claimed in claim 2 characterised in that each projection is formed by two said generally longitudinal cuts. i\ . A strip as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 characterised in that the projection is integral with the said adjacent device, at the opposite end of the projection. 5- A strip as claimed in claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 characterised in that the projection is narrower at the said first end than at the opposite end. 6. A strip as claimed in any preceding claim characterised in that each two adjacent units are separated by three collinear spaced transverse cuts of which the two outer cuts intersect respective sides of the strip, and two said projections extend from the two uncut regions between the transverse cuts. 7. A method of producing a plastics strip according to any of the preceding claims which comprises the step of displacing a portion of a strip of sheet plastics material from the plane of the sheet and returning the -said portion to the said plane before physical contact is lost between the said portion and the remainder of the strip, thereby producing transverse cut or cuts in said strip, characterised in that the step of displacing a portion of the strip comprises punching out said portion against a die having a spring-loaded insert therein, such that the level of the surface of said portion remote from said die is intermediate between the levels of the surface of the remainder of the strip adjacent said die and the surface of the remainder of the strip remote from said die. 8. A method, of producing a plastics strip in accordance with claim 1 wherein each unit is a clip which comprises a substantially rectangular lamella having an aperture to a side of said unit located in a longitudinal edge of the strip of units adjacent units in the strip being united edge-to-edge in substanti -illy contiguous relationship, which method comprises feeding a strip of sheet plastics material intermittently through a die-press, each feeding operation advancing the strip by a length equal 1; -a -mul iple of the length of each unit in che strip, forming in the strip at longitudinally spaced intervals the said apertures, and slits, and punching portions of the strip between, successive apertures , and slits against a die having therein a spring-loaded insert, to displace said portions from the plane of the strip, such that physical contact between said portions and the remainer' of the strip is, not lost, and returning said displaced portions to the plane of the, strip, thereby producing successive planes n said apertures, to delimit
