Claims (15)

43582/3 CLAIMS:
1. A process for the preparation of a carrier bound macro- ^ molecular compound wherein a macromolecular compound A selected from the group consisting of protein and nucleic acids Js first reacted with a compound B which contains at least one function capable of coupling with the macromolecular compound A and at least one further function capable of polymerisation, whereafter there is added a molecular sieve material in unswollen state, the degree of cross-linking of which excludes the macrombleoular compound A, and the polymerisable group of the coupled product AB is polymerised in the molecular sieve material.
2. A process according to claim 1, wherein the macromolecular compound A is an enzyme, an antibody or a hormone.
3. A process according to claim 1 wherein a compound B is used which, as couplable function, carries an alkylation or acylation group and, as polymerisable function, carries a carbon-carbon or carbon-oxygen double bond.
4. A process according to claim 3, wherein the couplable function in compound B is an oxirane, ethyleneimine, halide, azide or anhydride group.

A process according to claim 1, wherei the compound B used has the general formulai- Rl * n * C^ CB in which is a mono- or polyunsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, which optionally contains at least one oxo group adjacent to a double bond, and ¾2 ie a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical.

A process according to claim 1, wherein the compound B used is aoryloyl chloride, allyl bromide, maleic anhydride, 43582/2 malelc acid aside, l-allyloxy-3- (N-ethyleneimine)-propan-2-ol, acrylic acid 2,3-epoxypropyl ester, maleic acid 2, 3-epoxypropyl monoester, fumaric acid epoxy- (2,3-epoxy-propyl ester), fumaric acid epoxy- (2,3-epoxypropyl diester) or l-allyloxy-2,3-epoxybutane.
7. Λ process according to claim 1, wherein the molecular sieve material used is a cross-linked dextran, a cross-linked polyacrylamide or a cross-linked agar-.
8. A process according to alaim 1, wherein the molecular sieve material is added in an amount which aannot be completely swollen by the polymerisable solution of the coupling product AB*
9. A process according to claim 1, wherein the polymerisation of the coupling product AB is carried out in the presence of a further copolymerisable and/or polymerisation-promoting monomer.
10. Carrier-bound macromolecular compounds, comprising maoromolecular compounds A selected from the group consisting of protein and nucleic acids which are covalently bound to a polymeric body B based on acrylic or methaor lic acid amides or esters which penetrates a molecular sieve body.
11. Carrier-bound compounds according to claim 10, wherein the macromolecular compounds are ensymatioally active.
12. Carrier-bound compounds according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the molecular sieve material is a cross-linked dextran, agar or polyacrylamide.
13. Carrier-bound macromolecular compounds according to claim 10, substantially as hereinbefore described and exemplified.
14. A process according to claim 1 for the preparation of carrier-bound macromolecular compounds, substantially as hereinbefore described and exemplified.
15. Carrier-bound macromolecular compounds according to claim 10 whenever prepared by the process according to ad< of claims t
