Abstract
1413038 Process for D- and L-penicillamine DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER SCHEIDEANSTALT 31 Oct 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 50614/73 Addition to 1394855 Heading C2C D-penicillamine (and optionally L-penicillamine) is obtained by resolving protected D,L- penicillamine using l-norephedrine in the form of a salt as optically active base; N-formylisopropylidene-D-penicillamine and D-N-formyl- 2,2 - pentamethylene - 5,5 - dimethyl - thiazolidine- 4-carboxylic acid are isolated as well as the adducts of these two compounds with l-norephedrine.

Claims (5)
1. A process for obtaining D-penicillamine by .resolution ;¾ of suitably protected D,L-penicillamine using 1-norephedrine in the form of a salt as optically active base.
2. A process as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the norephedrine is' used as a salt of a sulphonic acid or carboxylic acid.
3. A process as claimed in Claim 2 , wherein the norephedrine is used as a salt of formic acid, acetic acid or propionic acid.
4. . A process for the resolution ·; of D,L-penicillamine substantially as herebefore described with reference to any of the Examples.
5. D-penicillamine when obtained by a process as claimed in any of Claims 1 to Jj,
