Abstract
1445387 N - (1<SP>1</SP> - alkoxycarbonylethyl)- N- haloacetyl - 2,6 - dialkylanilines CIBAGEIGY AG 12 Oct 1973 [13 Oct 1972 29 Aug 1973] 47857/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds having the formula wherein Y is a halogen atom. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of formula with an alpha-halopropionic acid ester and reacting the resulting intermediate of formula with a haloacetylating agent. The compounds of the invention may be used for the control of phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria.

Claims (19)
1. Phytofungicidal agents containing as active substance a compound of formula I wherein one of and R represents the methyl group and the other represents the methyl or ethyl group, and Y represents fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, .together with suitable carriers and/or additives.
2. Phytofungicidal agents according to Claim 1 containing < as actis/e substance N.r (1 ' -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -Nrchloroacetyl- ■ 2 , 6-dimethylaniline; of -the "formula <.

4. Phytofungicidal agents according to Claim 1 containing as active substance N- (1 ' -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-bromoacetyl-2 , 6-dimethylaniline of the formula
5. Phytofungicidal agents according to Claim 1 containing as active substance N- (11 -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-iodoacetyl-2 , 6-dimethylaniline or the formula
6. Process 5fo the preparation < of-..compounds ·. of formula in which process an a-anilinopropionic acid ester of the formula 43377/2 wherein one of and R2 represents the methyl group and the other represents the methyl or ethyl group, is allowed to react with a haloacetylating agent.
7. Process according to Claim 6, wherein the haloacetylation is performed with the halide or anhydride of the respective monofluoro-, monochloro-, monobromo- or monoiodoacetic acid.
8. Process according to Claim 6, wherein a- (2 , 6-dimethyl-anilino) -propionic acid methyl ester is allowed to react with the halide or anhydride of monochloro- acetic acid.
9. Process for the control of fungi, which process comprises treatment with a compound of formula I wherein one of and ^represents the -'methyl -group iand-the -other represents ;the methyl or ethyl group, and Yl represents -fluorine, chlorine, bromine. or iodine.
10. Process for the control of fungi according to Claim 9 comprising treatment with Nr (.1-' -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N- ._- -chloroacetyl- ., 6-dimethylanilihe:.---,
11. Process for the control of fungi according to Claim 9 comprising treatment with N- (1 ' -methoxycarbonyl-ether) -N-fluoro-acetyl-2 , 6-dimethylaniline.
12. Process for the control of fungi according to Claim 9 comprising treatment with N- (11 -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N- - - 43377
13. Process for the control of fungi according to Claim 9 comprising treatment with N- (11 -methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-iodo-acetyl-2 , 6-dimethylaniline .
14. Process according to one of Claims 9 to 13 for the control of phytopathogenic fungi.
15. Compounds of the formula wherein one of and R2 represents the methyl group and the other represents the methyl or ethyl group, and Y represents fluorine, -chlorine, ^bromine* or dodine.
