Claims (17)
1. A method of fabrication of a porous macro-molecular material, wherein a polymer is subjected to irradiation with heavy nuclear particles, a monomer having at least one ethylene double bond is fixed chemically in the zones which are modified by irradiation and localized around the locus of passage of each particle and the pore structure is formed by means of a chemical attacking agent which is specific to the starting polymer „
2. A method according to claim 1, wherein irradiation of the polymer is carried out in the presence of the monomer to be grafted.
3. A method according to claim 2, wherein the polymer has previously been impregnated with the monomer to be grafted prior to irradiation. .
4. A method according to claim 2, wherein the monomer is in the state of vapor within the enclosure in which irradiation of the polymer is performed.
5. A method according to claim 1, wherein irradia-tion of the polymer is carried out in the absence of the monomer to be grafted, fixation of said monomer being carried out after the irradiation step.
6. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the fixed monomer is modified in a subsequent step. .
7. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the heavy particles are constituted by a-radiations.
8. A method according to claims 1 to 6, wherein the particles are produced by fission fragments.
9. A method according to claims 1 to 6, wherein the heavy particles are produced by particle accelerators. 42011 /2
10. A method according to Claims 1 to 6, wherein the particles are produced in a nuclear reactor by means of reactions eueh as (n, a).
11. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 10, wherein the polymer is selected from the group constituted by the cellulose polymers, the polyesters, the polyolefins, the polyimides, the polycarbonates.
12. 2. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 1 , wherein the monomer is selected from the group constituted by vinyl-2-pyridine, acrylic acid, acrylonitrile , styrene.
13. - A orous maeroaolecular material as prepared in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 12.
14. A porous maeroffiolecular material according to Claim 15 being a ion exchange membrane.
15. 5. A porous macromolecular material according to Claim 14 being a selective semi-permeable membrane.
16. A method according to Claim 1 for the fabricatio of a porous macromolecular material, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the Examples.
17. A porous macromolecular material as prepared by the method according to Claim 1, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the Examples. PC:ma
