Claims

41866/2 · CLAIMS:

1. An assembly for processing fruit and vegetables comprising a frame, an Inlet and an outlet port and at least one substantially cylindrical brush mounted between said ports said brush being adapted to be rotatable about Its axis so as to convey the fruit and vegetables along a path substantially parallel to said brush's longitudinal axis.

2. The assembly as claimed 1n claim 1 , wherein said brush 1s a screw type brush.

3. The assembly as claimed in claim 2 comprising a plurality of substantially parallelly disposed brushes wherein at least one of said brushes 1s a screw type brush.

4. The assembly as claimed in claim 1 comprising at least three brushes and wherein a regular full-pack brush 1s disposed between two screw type brushes.

5. The assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein said brushes are adapted to be disposed at an angle to the horizontal plane.

6. The assembly as claimed 1n claim 1 wherein the speed of rotation of said brush 1s adjustable.

7. The assembly as claimed 1n claim 1 wherein said processing assembly is a fruit and vegetable waxing assembly comprising waxing means.

8. The assembly as claimed 1n claim 7 wherein said waxing means are sprayers disposed 1n a chamber situated above a portion of said brush.

A method for the control of the waxing of articles In a fruit processing assembly having at least one substantially cylindrical brush adapted to be rotatable about its axis so as to convey the articles along a path substantially parallel to said brush's longitudinal axis, comprising the steps of adjusting the Inclination of said brush relative the horizontal plane, adjusting the rotational speed of said brush and Introducing 41866/2 ·%» ·

10. The method as claimed 1n claim 9 wherein said brush 1s a screw type brush.

11. The method as claimed 1n claim 10 wherein a regular full-pack brush 1s substantially para side said screw type brush and wherei the rotational speeds of each of said for optimum waxing of said articles.

12. The method as claimed 1n claim 9 wherein said articles are waxed during the passage of the articles 1n a waxing station situated along one portion of said brush.

13. A method of production of a screw type brush for use 1n the assembly claimed 1n claim 2 comprising helically winding and affixing a flexible strip of material around a brush containing radially extending bristles fastened to a longitudinally extending core whereby the bristles situated under said helically wound strip are held down and the remaining bristles form an outwardly extending helical screw type brush.

14. An assembly for processing fruits and vegetables substantially as hereinbefore described and with reference to the accompanying drawings.

15. A method for the control of the waxing of articles substantially as hereinbefore described and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
