Claims (8)

CLAIMS: X. A compound selected from those of formula At wherein O II jQ is the group -C-OR 7 7 R is prop-2-en-l-yl or prop-2-yn-l-yl; n is zero or the positive integer one; 1 3 4 each of R , R , R and R is lower alk l; and 14 R is hydrogen or methyl.

2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein each of R , R , R 4 and R is methyl and n is one. 14
3. A compound according to claim 2 wherein R is hydrogen.
4. The compound, prop-2'-yn-l'-yl 3 ,7 , 11-trimethyldodecan-2,4-dienoate.
5. The trans (2), trans (4) isomer of p op-^'-yn-l'-yl 3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-2, 4-dienoate.
6. The compound p op-2'-en-l'-yl 3,7,ll-trimethyldodeca-2,4-dienoat
7. The trans (2) ,trans (4) isomer of prop~2,-en-l'-yl 3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-2 , 4-dienoate.
8. A method for the control of insects which comprises applying to the insect to be controlled a compound of formula A, as defined in claim 1, 7 or 5 and optionally a suitable carrier substance. . A method for the control of aphids which comprises applying to the aphid a compound of formula A, as defined in claim 1, 5 or 7 and optionally a suitable carrier substande. - 7 - o the mealybug a compound of formula A, as defined in Claim 1 , #or^B and optionally a suitable carrier substance. A process for the preparation of a compound of formula A, as defined herein, substantially as described herein.
