Abstract

1368782 Bending M SEEFF and S SEEFF 6 Dec 1971 [12 Dec 1970 24 June 1971] 56565/71 Heading B3E A corrugated metal sheet 1 is bent in a direction transverse to the corrugations 2, 3 by pressing ribs 8 in the side portions 4 of the corrugations 2, 3 and in the intermediate portions 5 of the corrugations 3. The ribs are formed by a punch and die (Fig. 4) in rows either by forming each row or a plurality of rows in one operation which is repeated at spaced intervals along the sheet in a direction parallel to the corrugations. The ribs are discontinued at portions 12 in the intermediate portions 5 to define a drainage channel. [GB1368782A]

Claims (16)

1. A method of bending a corrugated sheet as herein defined about an axis extending at right angles to the corrugations, including the step of pressing in those corrugations having their apices nearest the axis a plurality of rib forma-tions projecting from the same surface of the sheet relative.. to the axis, the rib formations being at an angle to the corrugations and extending over at least part of the side portions and at least part of the intermediate portions of the corrugations.
2. A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rib formations are in rows each row being formed in one operation which is repeated at spaced intervals along the sheet in a direction parallel to the corrugations to give the desired degree of bending.
3. A method as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rib formations are in rows with a plurality of rows being formed in one operation which is repeated at spaced intervals along the sheet in a direction parallel to the corrugations to give the desired degree of bending.
4. A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the rib formations on the side portions in the direction away from the intermediate portions decrease in width and in height relative to the surface from which they project.
5. A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the rib formations are pressed to project from the surface on the other side of the sheet when viewed from the axis. 56306/2
6. A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the rib formations are discontinued over at least part of the intermediate portions to define a drainage channel .
7. A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the rib formations extend at right angles to the corrugatio
8. A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims including the step of feeding the sheet in a direction parallel to its corrugations between a pair of mating die members a dapted to press the rib formations in the corrugations .

A corrugated sheet as herein defined curved about an axis extending at right angles to the corrugations including a plurality of rib formations projecting from the same surface of the sheet when viewed from the axis , the rib formations being at an angle to the corrugations and extending over at least part of the side portions and at least part of the intermediate portions of the corrugations .
10. A sheet as claimed in claim 9 wherein the rib formations on the side portions in the direction away from the intermediate portions decrease in width and in height relative to the surface from which they project.
11. . A sheet as claimed in any one of claims 9 or 10 wherein the rib formations are discontinued over at least part of the intermediate portions to define a drainage channel.
12. A sheet as claimed in any of claims 9 to 11 wherein the rib formations extend at right angles to the corrugations .
13. . A method of bending a metal cladding sheet about an axis including the steps of providing the sheet with a plurality of corrugations as herein defined extending at right angles to the axis and pressing in those corrugations having their apices nearest the axis , a plurality of rib formations projecting from the same surface of the sheet when viewed from the axis , the rib formations being at an angle to the corrugations and extending over at least part of the side portions and at least part of the intermediate portions of the corrugations .
14. A method of bending a corrugated sheet substantially as herein described with reference to the drawings .
15. A method of bending a metal cladding sheet substantially as herein described with reference to the drawings .
16. Sheets bent in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 8 or 13 to 15 . 1 7. Apparatus suitable for bending sheets according to the methods of a ny one of claims 1 to 8 or 13 to 15 , substantially as herein described with reference to the drawings .
