Abstract

If the jaw is used for welding, an electric heating resistance is located in a bore 12 and a thermocouple feeler in a bore 13. If the jaw is used for cooling, liquid is circulated through the bore 12. In use, the jaw co-operates with a similar jaw or a plane surface. A "non-stick" sheet of polytetrafluoroethylene or carbon fluoride may be placed between each of the jaws and the material when welding. The thermoplastic material to be welded may be gusseted tubing.
