Description
WASTEWATER COUPLER WITH BALL JOINT FIELD OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to wastewater fittings.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Wastewater installations include a range of wastewater fittings for wastewater drainage purposes. Such wastewater fittings include inter alia trap collectors, drains, bends, and the like. Some wastewater fittings include one or more fixed sockets for sealing insertion of a wastewater pipe therein. Some wastewater fittings include one or more ball joints. Each ball joint includes a ball socket and a ball seal rotatably mounted therein. A ball joint enables a sealing insertion of a wastewater pipe therein at an adjustable angle relative to wastewater fitting in a top elevation view thereof in accordance with a wastewater installation requirement. Such angular adjustments are typically in the range of about ±10°. Some wastewater fittings include one or more fixed sockets and/or one or more ball joints. Wastewater fittings with fixed sockets and/or ball joints are commercially available from the present applicant Huliot Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd, Kibbutz Sade Nechmia, Israel www.huliot.com.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is directed towards wastewater couplers for use with wastewater fittings having one or more fixed sockets only and/or one or more ball joints only and/or one or more fixed sockets and one or more ball joints. The wastewater couplers each include a wastewater coupler pipe having a wastewater coupler pipe end and a wastewater coupler ball joint, and a wastewater coupler nut for screw threading on the wastewater coupler ball joint.
A wastewater coupler is intended for coupling between a wastewater fitting and a wastewater pipe whereby its wastewater coupler pipe end is sealed in the wastewater fitting socket and the wastewater pipe is sealed in its wastewater coupler ball joint thereby coupling the wastewater pipe to the wastewater fitting. The wastewater coupler ball joint enables angular adjustment of the wastewater pipe relative to the wastewater coupler according to a particular wastewater installation requirement.
Wastewater couplers of the present invention can be provided with wastewater coupler pipes in a range of standard lengths which can also be cut to required lengths according to a particular wastewater installation requirement. The wastewater couplers of the present invention afford additional freedom to install wastewater installations than presently available wastewater fittings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS In order to understand the present invention and to see how it can be carried out in practice, a preferred embodiment will now be described, by way of a non-limiting example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which similar parts are likewise numbered, and in which Fig. 1 is an exploded view of a conventional wastewater fitting with a ball joint; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal cross section of the conventional wastewater fitting along line A-A in Figure 1; Fig. 3 shows use of the conventional wastewater fitting; Fig. 4 is a top elevation view of the conventional wastewater fitting; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a wastewater coupler of the present invention; Fig. 6 is an exploded view of the wastewater coupler; Fig. 7 is a front elevation view of the wastewater coupler; Fig. 8 is a longitudinal cross section of the wastewater coupler along line B-B in Figure 7; Fig. 9 shows use of the wastewater coupler; and Fig. 10 is a top elevation view of the wastewater coupler.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS Figure 1 and Figure 2 show a wastewater fitting 10 constituted by a conventional trap collector for use with a wastewater pipe 30 having a wastewater pipe end 31. The wastewater fitting 10 includes a cylindrical housing 11 with a top surface 12, a bottom surface 13 and a peripheral surface 14. The top surface 12 has a drainage grid 16. The peripheral surface 14 is formed with a wastewater fitting ball joint 17 close to the bottom surface 13.
The wastewater fitting 10 includes a trap 18 for preventing smells from sewage. The wastewater fitting ball joint 17 includes a ball socket 19 and a ball seal 21 rotatably mounted therein. The ball socket 19 includes an external screw thread 22. The wastewater fitting 10 includes a wastewater fitting nut for screw threading on the ball joint’s external screw thread 22 for sealing the wastewater pipe 30 therein.
Figure 3 shows use of the wastewater fitting 10 and the wastewater pipe . The wastewater fitting nut 23 is slid on the wastewater pipe end 31. The wastewater pipe end 31 is slid into the wastewater fitting ball joint 17. The wastewater fitting nut 23 is screw threaded onto the ball socket’s external screw thread 22 for sealing the wastewater pipe 30. The wastewater pipe can be angularly adjusted with respect to the wastewater fitting 10 through a range of about ±10° as shown in Figure 4.
Figure 5 to Figure 8 show a wastewater coupler 40 for use with a wastewater fitting and a wastewater pipe. The wastewater coupler 40 has a length L. The wastewater coupler 40 can be manufactured in a range of standard lengths, for example, 10 cm, 20 cm, 50 cm, etc. The wastewater coupler 40 includes a wastewater coupler pipe 41 having a wastewater coupler pipe end 42 and a wastewater coupler ball joint 43. The wastewater coupler ball joint 43 includes a ball socket 44 and a ball seal 46 rotatably mounted therein. The ball socket 44 includes an external screw thread 47. The wastewater coupler 40 includes a wastewater coupler nut 48 for screw threading on the ball joint’s external screw thread 47 for sealing a wastewater pipe therein. The wastewater coupler 40 includes a diametric pair of outwardly directed finger grips 49 along the wastewater coupler pipe 41 adjacent the wastewater coupler ball joint 43 for assisting installation of the wastewater coupler.
Figure 9 shows use of a wastewater pipe 30, the wastewater coupler 40, a wastewater fitting 50 similar to the wastewater fitting 10 but including a fixed socket 51 with an external screw thread 52, an O-ring seal 53, and a wastewater fitting nut 54 for screw threading on the fixed socket’s external screw thread for sealing a wastewater pipe therein.
The O ring seal 53 and the wastewater fitting nut 54 are slid on the wastewater coupler pipe end 42. The wastewater coupler nut 48 is slid on the wastewater pipe end 31. The wastewater coupler pipe end 42 is slid into the fixed socket 51 and the wastewater fitting nut 54 is screw threaded onto the fixed socket’s external screw thread 52 for sealing the wastewater coupler pipe 41. The wastewater pipe end 31 is slid into the wastewater coupler ball joint and the wastewater coupler nut 48 is screw threaded onto the ball socket’s external screw thread 47 for sealing the wastewater pipe 30. The wastewater pipe 30 can be angularly adjusted with respect to the wastewater coupler through a range of about ±10° as shown in Figure 10.
While the invention has been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments, it will be appreciated that many variations, modifications, and other applications of the invention can be made within the scope of the appended claims.
