Abstract

An intramedullary prosthesis, particularly a hip prosthesis, comprises an articulating member (12) at one end and a stem (18) at the other. The stem is shaped to conform substantially to the transverse sections of the medullary canal socket into which it is to be inserted. The stem is preferably covered with a porous resilient coating (26) which becomes compressed as the stem is inserted into the socket. <IMAGE> [GB2118441A]
