Abstract

1515768 Absorbent pads JEYES GROUP Ltd 28 March 1977 [29 March 1976] 12611/76 Heading A5R The absorbent material in an absorbent pad suitable for use in diapers or sanitary towels comprises a powdered substance obtained by polymerising a mixture of (a) starch, (b) at least one monomer containing a polymerizable double bond and which is water soluble or becomes water soluble on hydrolysis and (c) a cross-linking agent, and if necessary, hydrolysing the product. The powder may be sandwiched between two layers of a liquid pervious fabric in a patterned form, or may be dispersed in a pad of cellulosic wadding. A finely divided inert filler such as chalk, clay or talc is preferably mixed with the powder. [GB1515768A]
