Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively remove normal moire and return moire and to read and obtain an image of high picture quality with high precision by providing an optical means which has at least two kind of low-pass characteristics in the optical path between an image forming means and a photodetecting means. CONSTITUTION: The optical means 20 consists of low-pass filters 11 and 12 composed of two transparent optical members in the same shape and has the mutually different low-pass characteristics in the array direction of image pickup elements, and those two low-pass filters 11 and 12 are provided in the optical path between the image forming means 4 and photodetecting means 5 at specific distances from the photodetecting means 5 respectively. The low-pass filter 11 has the low-pass characteristics that the MTF value is 0 in a low-frequency range and the normal moire phenomenon is therefore removed. The low-pass filter 12 has the low-pass characteristics that the MTF value becomes 0 almost at a spatial frequency where the return response component of the low-pass characteristics becomes maximum and then the return moire phenomenon is removed[JPS5196894A]
