Abstract

1512373 Friction false twisters R S GILCHRIST 22 July 1975 [25 July 1974] 32885/74 Heading DID A yarn twisting apparatus comprises a flexible tube 20/21 rotatably mounted within a curved rigid mounting 22 which constrains the flexible tube to a curved path. A driven spindle 13 is a push fit in the lower end of the flexible tube and the mounting 22 is secured at its lower end only. Sintered bearing bushes 30 are distributed along the mounting and a wick 28 supplies oil from a reservoir 42. The flexible tube comprises a helical spring 20 and an inner elastomeric sleeve 21. The rotation of the spring 20 in combination with cutaway portions 28 of the mounting provides a cooling air flow. The curvature of the tube may be involute. Specification 1353749 is referred to.
