Abstract

1450907 Incinerators RHONE-PROGIL 3 Dec 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 55986/73 Heading F4B An incinerator comprises a combustion chamber A containing a first fluidized bed and a cooling chamber B containing a second fluidized bed and immersed heat exchange pipes 14, the fluidizing air being supplied to chamber A at a greater flow rate than to chamber B so that its density is less, connecting ducts 1 and 11 allowing bed material to circulate from the cooling chamber B through the combustion chamber and back to the cooling chamber. Dried refuse is fed from shoot 3 into chamber A where it is burnt, heavy residues falling down into lock 7 from which they are removed. Light ash rises with the bed material and separates from it in chamber 8, the bed material falling down duct 11 to chamber B. The combustion gases and ash pass to cyclone 9 where the ash is extracted (at 10), the hot gases going in part to a treatment chamber 16 to be scrubbed and rendered harmless before discharge, and in part to a refuse drying apparatus consisting of a tube 18 fed with wet refuse and hot gases at the bottom. The hot gases carry the lighter materials upwards to a cyclone 21, the heavier materials fall into hopper 20 from which they are removed. The cyclone 21 separates the refuse and it is conveyed by a duct to the charging shoot 3. The hot gases pass via duct 22 to the fluidizing blower 5 to be recirculated. [GB1450907A]
