Abstract

1451473 Insecticidal gels BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 30 April 1974 [18 May 1973 23 June 1973] 23928/73 and 29941/73 Heading ASE A liquid insecticidal composition comprises an organic aluminium compound and an insecticide dissolved or dispersed therein, the composition being capable of forming a non-flowable gel on exposure to moisture. Suitable organic aluminium compounds are those which have the formula where n is 1-2, each R' group is an alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy-alkyl, phenyl, halo-phenyl, alkoxyphenol or C 1-4 -acyl group and each R" group is a C 8-30 alkyl or C 8-30 acyl group or the formula 1 and/or 2 wherein each X is either a R' or R" group as before, x has a value from 0-10 and wherein some of the Al atoms can be replaced by B, Cu, Za and Zn atoms; e.g. isopropoxy aluminium di(ethylhexancate) and isopropoxy aluminium zinc oleate/lineoleate. The insecticide e.g. Dichlos and Diazinin is dissolved or dispersed in the organic aluminium compound or a solution thereof, e.g. in a hydrocarbon, and may be applied to, for example, the wool of sheep by spraying. Other additives which can be incorporated are plasticisers, insect repellants, drying oils and dyes. [GB1451473A]
