Abstract

1427451 Insecticidal compositions PHILAGRO 8 Feb 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 05864/74 Heading A5E An insecticidal composition comprises a mixture of one or more insecticides together with a lacquer based on a copolymer of vinyl acetate and crotonic acid dissolved in one or more organic solvents capable of forming a solution. The molar ratio of vinyl acetate to crotonic acid is preferably in the range of 85:15 to 95:5. The solubility in water and hygroscopicity of the films obtained after drying can be regulated through the neutralisation rate and the base used for neutralisation, preferred bases are 2- amino-2 methyl-1-propanol, aminomethyl propane diol, tri-isopropylamine and dodecylamine. Suitable insecticides are bromophos, dichloros, noted phosphanidon, tetrachlorvinphos, chloropenimphos, crotoscyphos, chlorpyrifos, phosium, chlorophosium, penthion, icdofenphos, penchlorphos, malathion, crufomate, butanate, trichlorfer, carbanyl, propoxum, natural pyrethrins, allethrins optionally synergised with e.g. piperonylbutoxide, bindane and methoxychlorine. Specified solvents are methylene chloride, chloroform, carbon tetrachlorate, trichloroethanes, halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, methyl isobutyl ketone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, aryl acetate and dimethyl formamide.
