Abstract

1393326 Phenol acid esters SYNTHELABO 25 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972 18 Jan 1973] 44922/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula in which R represents a substituted alkyl radical -C n H 2n -A, in which n is an integer from 1 to 5, it being possible for the alkylene chain C n H 2n to be linear or branched, and A represents either (1) an alkoxycarbonyl radical -COOR 1 , R 1 being an alkyl radical with a straight or branched chain containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or (2) a carbamoyl radical wherein the symbols R 2 and R 3 are identical or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical with a linear or branched chain containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms, or represents a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic radical with 5 to 7 ring atoms, optionally containing one or more other hetero-atoms, or (3) a nitrile radical, or (4) an acyl radical -COR 1 , R 1 being as hereinbefore defined, or (5) a hydroxy- or polyhydroxy-alkyl radical having a linear or branched chain of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, in which one or more of the hydroxyl radicals can be etherified by a straight or branched alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or two of them can be etherified, with cyclization, to produce the group in which m represents 0, 1 or 2 and Z represents a linear or branched alkylene chain containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The compounds are prepared from a dihydroxy benzoic acid by acetylation and esterification. [GB1393326A]
