Abstract

An "Improved process for obtaining oil, gas and byproducts from pyrobituminous shale or other solid materials impregnated with hydrocarbons" under such conditions that a mist is permitted to form at the output of the reactor, resulting from the extraction of recycling gases passing in countercurrent with the downwardly moving shale. The improvement results in lower costs, higher amounts of extracted material, higher rentability and, accordingly, better economy. [US3887453A]
