Abstract
1402021 Low-melting nylon 6 CONSIGLIO NAZIONALE DELLE RICERCHE 15 June 1972 [25 June 1971] 28025/72 Heading C3R Nylon 6 is intimately mixed in the absence of any liquid diluent with 2 to 10 wt. per cent of lithium or calcium chloride, bromide, and iodide to increase the melt viscosity and lower the melting temperature and degree of crystallinity thus permitting processing at lower temperatures. In an example 2% of each of LiCl CaCl 2 , LiBr and (for comparison) KCl are incorporated with nylon 6 of M.P. 232 C. to give products of respective melting points 182, 172, 152 and 227 C.
