1339309 Oxiranes SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 29 Sept 1971 [1 Oct 1970] 45352/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] One or more olefins are reacted with one or more organic hydroperoxides to produce one or more oxirane compounds in the presence of a catalyst (see Division B1) containing silica and a metal or boron oxide, which has been treated with an organo-silane, -silamine, or -silazane. Examples are given of the epoxidation of octene- 1 with ethylbenzene hydroperoxide, and propylene with ethylbenzene hydroperoxide. [GB1339309A]
