1292241 Pharmaceutical preparations CIBAGEIGY AG 28 May 1971 ][28 May 1970 17856/71 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical preparations for oral administration, for treating gastric disorders, contain as the sole agent effective against pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and amoeba, 4,7-phenanthroline-5.6-quinone, in conjunction with pancreatin, bromelin, and dehydrocholic acid, and a pharmaceutical excipient suitable for oral administration. The preparations may be administered orally in the form of a dragee or coated tablet preferably having three stages comprising an inner core containing the 4,7- phenanthroline, an enveloping core layer containing pancreatin and dehydrocholic acid, this composite core being enveloped by a substance that resists gastric fluid and decomposes in an alkaline medium (e.g. cellulose acetate/phthalate lacquer), an outer dragee layer containing bromelin, and finally a sugar coat. Cysteine may be present in the preparations.
