1338413 Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure E H GREEN 15 Dec 1970 [15 July 1970] 59399/70 Heading F1R [ Also in Division B8] A pressurized package is filled with propellant from a filling head 80, Fig.3, which fits over a button 22 and depresses the latter to open a valve 20 so that pressurized propellant, may then flow around the button's stem 56 to distort a gasket 32 and enter the package. The gas passes through notches 76, Fig.5, around an opening 58 through which the stem 56 passes, the stem being supported by webs 74. More than four notches 76 may be provided and they may be of different shape, e.g. Fig.9 (not shown). As shown in Fig. 3 the button 22 and stem 56 are integral and the stem engages a separate plunger 40 which has a gallery 68 at its top inside a seat 48. A slot 70 in the stem is normally closed by the gasket 32 but provides communication between the bore 66 of the stem and the interior of the valve via the gallery 68 when the button is depressed to dispense a product. The button 22 has notches 88 in its bottom end to allow passage of gas although they may be omitted and the head 80 proportioned so that the button does not contact the top of boss 23, Fig.4 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig.8 (not shown), the stem (56') is integral with a plunger (40') and has a side slot (70') in its lower half. The button (22') is not integral with the stem. In both embodiments the bottom of the valve housing has a ribbed surface (44) and the head 80 has a spring suspended pusher 96 provided with grooves 94. [GB1338413A]
