Abstract
1341957 Soil stabilisation revetments L E GREGORY 9 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 62773/ 69 Headings E1F and E1H [Also in Division A1] An inclined earth or rock face is stabilised by lattice work comprising cables, extending down the face and tensioned between anchorages, and connected to rows of troughs extending across the face which receive material to form a new face. Parallel cables 12, anchored tend down the face and are anchored to piles in concrete 15 and bearing on pads 18, ex- 20. Material 22 is placed into and between rows of troughs 21 to form new face 23. Troughs 21 are of channel-shaped cross-section, and in each trough row each pair of adjacent trough ends is seated in and connected to a connector of similar cross-section. A plate rises vertically from the connectors base, between the seated trough ends, the cables being attached by V-belts to the plates. The upper anchorage may comprise a cantilevered beam from which two or more sets of cables may be suspended to form layers of lattices above the original face. The lower ends of the cables may be anchored in concrete, possibly within a precast concrete structure. The lattice may be covered with concrete, where it extends beneath water, to form an erosion barrier. The cables may be anchored between their ends to the original face. The cables may be made of stranded steel wire which may be galvanised or plastics coated, or may be made of plastics material, e.g. nylon fibre. The connectors may be made of steel, aluminium alloy or a reinforced synthetic material.
