A synthetic organic thermoplastic tubular film having at least one longitudinal zone of which the wall thickness is greater than that of the remainder of the film is made by melt extruding the tube from an annular die, subjecting the tube to primary cooling and inflating it, and locally cooling at least one longitudinal zone of the inflated and still plastic film to solidify this zone before cooling the remainder of the film. Cooling may be by a jet of pressurized air, the temperature and pressure of which are adjustable. Two opposite zones on the film may be cooled to equilibrate stresses. [GB1250945A]
