1,234,543. Fluoropyridines. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 Jan., 1970 [25 Feb., 1969], No. 9953/69. Heading C2C. Fluoropyridines are prepared by replacement of chlorine by fluorine by reaction with hydrogen fluoride vapour at elevated temperature using as catalyst an oxide or fluoride of aluminium or chromium. A specified catalyst is black chromium oxide mixed with graphite. Fixed or fluidized beds may be used. Specified products are 2 - fluoro - 3,4,5,6 - tetrachloropyridine, 2,6 - difluoro - 3,4,5 - trichloropyridine and 2,4,6 - trifluoro - 3,4 - dichloropyridine. [GB1234543A]
