Abstract

1,274,492. Increasing pregnancy rate in cows. ELI LILLY & CO. 6 Aug., 1969 [6 Aug., 1968; 7 March, 1969], No: 39426/69. Heading A5B. A method of increasing the pregnancy rate and percent of live births in cows comprise administering a gonadotropin to a cow within 24 hours after the onset of estrus, the cow being inseminated within 24 hours after coming into estrus. The gonadotropin may be pregnant mares serum, human chorionic gonadotropin, follicle-stimulating hormone or lutenizing hormone. Sex hormones may be used to synchronize estrus in the cows.
