Abstract

1,269,970. Stable pesticidal compositions. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 30 Sept., 1969 [2 Oct., 1968], No. 48112/69. Heading ASE. A stable solid pesticidal composition comprises a 1 - alkylaminocarbonyl - 2 - alkoxycarbonylaminobenzidazole of formula (I): where R 1 represents methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or sec-butyl; and R 2 represents alkyl (C 1 -C 12 ); phenyl; phenyl monosubstituted by methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, nitro, CF 3 , CH 3 SO 2 or halogen; benzyl; allyl; benzyl monosubstituted by methyl, nitro, methoxy or halogen; cycloalkyl - alkyl of 7 or 8 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl-alkyl of 7 or 8 carbon atoms monosubstituted by methyl; cyclohexyl, or cyclohexyl monosubstituted by methyl; and sucrose as a diluent, said composition containing less than 0.5% by weight water. Preferred compounds of formula (I) are the methyl esters of 1 - (n - butylcarbamoyl) - 2 - benzimidazole carbamic acid, 1 - (n - hexylcarbamoyl) - 2 - benzimidazolecarbamic acid, 1 - (n - octylcarbamoyl) - 2 - benzimidazolecarbamic acid, and 1 - (p - methoxyphenylcarbamoyl) - 2 - benzimidazolecarbamic acid. The compositions may be in the form of powders, dusts or granules. Other compounding ingredients, apart from sucrose, such as wetting and dispersing agents, anti-foam agents and corrosion inhibitors may also be present. Wettable powders may contain 15-90% by weight of the active ingredient, 9.5-84.5% by weight sucrose, and 0.5-10% by weight surface active agent; dusts may contain 0.5-25% by weight active ingredient and 75-99% by weight sucrose; whilst granules may contain 0.5-25% by weight active ingredient and 75-95% by weight sucrose. The compositions are suitable for controlling many fungus diseases of fruits, timbers and other plant parts and also for the protection of wood, fabric, fibre board, paper, other industrial materials and household articles against rot and discolouration. The composition may also contain an additional fungicide preferably in a weight ratio of imidazole compound to additional fungicide in the range 1:4 to 4:1, and preferred additional fungicides are thiram, captan and sulphur.
