Abstract

1,257,166. Continuous mixing apparatus. BPB INDUSTRIES Ltd. 14 March, 1969 [9 May, 1968], No.22125/68. Heading B1C. A continuous discharge mixer for quicksetting adhesives comprises a shallow cylndrical housing (10, Fig. 1, not shown), a cylindrical discoidal hub 14, elements 17 for spreading on the cylindrical internal wall of the housing material thrown centrifugally off the hub, and scraper elements 18 which direct material through a discharge opening (15, Fig. 2, not shown) in the base. As shown there are also two pairs of thrower elements 16 upwardly inclined in the direction of rotation and also towards the side walls, the angles of the two pairs being different. The plates 20, 22 of the elements 17, 18 are also upwardly inclined in the direction of rotation but extend near the base of the housing, and the plates 21 are set at a small angle to its side wall. All leading edges are bevelled or sharp. In the case of a composition having both a solid and a liquid component, the feed for the liquid is nearer the centre of the hub. [GB1257166A]
