Abstract
A metal door with integral decorative panel, of the type comprising at least one metal tray (5) constituting the door with a perimeter lip (6), an interior insulating material (4) and, optionally, a second metal tray (3) closing the space occupied by the insulating material (4). The door comprises profiles (1) of "F" cross section arranged around the tray (5) and connected to the lip (6), there being a decorative panel (2) secured by the profiles (1). The edge of the panel (2) is arranged in a housing (7) formed by the two parallel flanges of the "F" profiles (1) oriented towards the inside of the door. These "F" profiles secure the decorative panel via its edges, affording an aesthetically correct finish, ease of fitting and dismantling and additional insulation. <Figure 1>
Description
METAL DOOR WITH INTEGRAL DECORATIVE PANEL Subject of the invention The present invention relates to a metal door with! integral decorative panel, of the type of those§ comprising at least one metal tray, an interior? insulation and, optionally, a second tray closing the space housing said insulation.
Background of the invention When constructing buildings and decorating properties, it is commonplace to use metal doors, as these fulfil two principal functions: they are resistant to the weather and are strong for use as exterior doors, and they act as fire breaks in the event of a fire, isolating parts of the property. «Μ 2 U4 ϋ IU a % £3 S2 «8 5 S3 «u CO =9 ΕΞ 5 a. E e UJ M Ξ CC Ul eu o ui o ss These doors preferably consist of a metal tray with a wide U section, which over its perimeter has a totally or partially surrounding lip. In the inner hollow of the tray there may be solid insulation, such as wood or the like, which is glued or adhesively bonded, plus an interior finish. In other cases, in which the insulation is formed by solidifiable foams or particles, a second metal closure tray is placed over the U tray, said second tray being riveted, welded or fixed by any other means on the lip of the U tray, thereby creating a closed space or chamber for the thermal insulation. In either of the two cases, it is usually necessary to fit a decorative element on at least one of the faces of the door, preferably the interior face, in order to coordinate with the decoration on the walls.
Fixing this decorative panel is generally a problem, as £05 02 64 - 2 said fixing must be strong and, at the same time, provide the correct perimeter finish.
Description of the invention The metal door with integral decorative panel, which is the subject of the present registration, comprises a means for easily and reliably securing a decorative panel in one of the faces, in keeping with the decoration of the area of exposure.
In actual fact, the novel invention may be applied to any type of metal door consisting of at least one tray, be this of the open or closed type. Said invention consists of a series of F or similar profiles that can be coupled' to the surround of the metal door and that secure the decorative panel of veneer-finish wood via its edges, affording an aesthetically correct finish, great ease of fitting and dismantling, and insulation in addition to that provided by the insulation located inside the U tray.
The F profile has a U lateral hollow formed by two parallel longitudinal flanges on which the wooden panel is fitted. In turn, the orthogonal flange can be fixed to the principal tray of the door, preferably on the surrounding lip that that tray possesses. This joint may be fixed by means of riveting, stapling, screwing, welding, adhesive bonding, etc., preference being given to those forms of fixing that allow replacement of the profile with a view to changing the wooden panel should it be broken or to changing the decoration.
Description of the figures To supplement the description being given and in order to facilitate understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the present description is accompanied by a set of drawings in which the following have been ΙΕΟ5 02 64 - 3 represented in an illustrative and non-limiting manner: Figure 1 shows a transversely sectioned view of a metal door of the closed type or with two trays and the decorative panel installed; Figure 2 shows a transversely sectioned view of a metal door of the open type or with a single tray and the decorative panel installed.
Preferred embodiment of the invention As may be observed in the above-referenced figures, a preferred but non-limiting embodiment of the invention comprises a door consisting of a U tray (5) with a totally or partially surrounding perimeter lip (6), an interior thermally insulating material (4) and, optionally, a closure tray (3) stapled or riveted on said lip (6) . On the interior face of the tray (5) constituting the door there is a decorative wooden panel (2) that is riveted or the like, with its edge arranged in the housing (7) of parallel flanges of a series of profiles (1) with F cross section.
Said profiles (1) are arranged around the tray (5) and connected to said lip (6) by means of the orthogonal flange (8) by stapling, riveting, screwing, adhesive bonding or any other joining means of a fixed or removable nature.
The nature of the invention and also a preferred illustrative embodiment having been sufficiently described, reference is made, for relevant purposes, to the fact that the materials, form, size and arrangement of the elements described may be modified, provided this does not alter the essential characteristics of the invention claimed below.
Claims (3)
1. Metal door with integral decorative panel, of the type of those comprising at least one metal tray constituting the door with a perimeter lip, an interior insulating material and, optionally, a second metal tray closing the space occupied by the insulating material, characterized in that it comprises profiles of F cross section arranged around the tray and connected to said lip, there being a decorative panel secured by said profiles; and in that the edge of the panel is arranged in the housing formed by the two parallel flanges of the F profiles oriented towards the inside of the door.
2. Door according to Claim 1, characterized in that the profiles are connected to the tray of the door by means of removable means capable of allowing the panel to be changed.
3. A metal door according to Claim 1, substantially as hereinbefore described with particular reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
