Abstract
1 mol. hexanediol is mixed with 0.3-0.4% BF3 - ethylether catalyst and 1.8-2.2 epichlorohydrin at 60-65 deg.C for 60-70 mins. The produced chlorohydrin ether reacts with an aq. NaOH soln. at 80-85 deg.C. After sepn. the organic phase is washed and vacuum distilled at 125 deg.C.
