Abstract

Wet, granular materials, esp. in agriculture, milling and food processing are heat treated to reduce moisture content, sterilise and in some cases to mix with additives. The material is fed into a drying space through which a drying medium e.g. gas is passed in the opposite direction. The material forms a vibrating fluidised bed by the turbulent flow created above a gas distributor grid. - The moisture content of the material is reduced in the fluidised bed and the dried material is discharged, pref. cooled and finally packed, stored or used. - Equipment comprises feed opening and pipe gas distribution grid, gas handling equipment, including fan heat exchanger and duct. The drier space is divided into inner and outer sections.
