Modular carding/raising machine processes yarns in the count range 36-40 Nm and higher for the prodn. of warp- and weft-knitted fabrics. A housing contains a carding disk operated by a friction, belt or toothed drive. Yarns are fed along one dia. or chord of the carding disk on one of its faces (the carding surface), through slots at opposite sides of the housing. The yarns are applied against the raising/carding surface of the disk by mechanisms in front of or behind the housing. A tensioner for each yarn in front of the housing adjusts the yarn tension. The housing has a transparent cover. Any fibre fly is sucked away through the openings in the housing. There may also be openings in the cover.
