Abstract
A detergent composition comprises or is prepared by combining a peroxygen bleach, a bleach activator, a non-alkoxylated quaternary ammonium (non-AQA) surfactant and an AQA cationic surfactant of formula (I) R1 = substituted 8-18C alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkaryl, ether or glycidyl ether moiety; R2 = 1-3C alkyl; R3, R4 = H, Me or Et; X = anion; A = 1-4C alkoxy; p = 2-30. Also claimed are: (1) a method for removing soils and stains comprising contacting soils and stains with a detergent composition, or aqueous medium comprising the above detergent composition; and (2) a method for enhancing the deposition or substantivity of perfume or perfume ingredients onto fabrics or other surfaces comprising contacting the surfaces with perfume of perfume ingredient in the presence of compound (I). Use - The composition is useful for removing a variety of soils, especially hydrophobic soils, bleach sensitive soils, greasy soils or surfactant sensitive soils and stains from a variety of fabrics. The composition is in the form of granules, bar, aqueous liquid or non-aqueous liquid or tablet form. Advantage - The compositions provide superior cleaning and whiteness and also provide improved fabric care. The AQA surfactants are compatible with anionic surfactants, and perfume ingredients. The compositions can be formulated as concentrates and provide economic advantage in transportation/storage costs.
