Abstract

An Archimedean spiral of flexible pipe, preferably having corrugated wall is installed on the flat bottom of the tank. Gas or liquid are supplied to both ends of the spiral, in quantities of 12-90 cu. m/sq.m/h air equivalent, or 1-9 cu.m/sq.m/h respectively. These fluids are discharged into the liquid contained in the tank through orifices located in the lowest points of the spiral. The orifices are all located at the same elevation, are all the same size, with a combined area not more than twice the cross-section area of the pipe. The issuing jets of fluid move at the same speed, throughout the tank, avoiding the pipe spiral, and produce movement of the liquid in the tank.
